SG - Common Errors when Processing Payments

If your subscribers are encountering issues when attempting to buy your publication online, there are a few things to take into account. An error code usually indicates a problem with your credit card processor. When using Authorize.net , please examine the following:

  1. Have you recently changed any Credit Card Settings in Subscription Genius? If you've upgraded to Authorize.net with CIM or changed any settings on your Authorize.net account, your API may have changed, and/or you may need to update your account setting type within Subscription Genius.
  2. Is your credit card processor having network issues? Please ensure that your credit card processing service provider is not having network issues. Sometimes this can temporarily affect the processing of payments.
  3. Have you recently set up another application with Authorize.net and fetched new API keys? This generates a new set of API credentials within your Authorize.net account, causing the Subscription Genius API to not match. Please ensure to always update your API credentials anytime you have viewed your API code within Authorize.net . They will change every time they are viewed.
  4. Have you tried processing a payment within Authorize.net ? If this is not working, you can be sure that the issue is within your credit card processor, and not your Subscription Genius account.
  5. If you are using Authorize.net  with CIM, please ensure that this selection is also chosen within Subscription Genius. There are two Authorize.net  options for payment processing within Subscription Genius.
  6. If it's a single customer is having an issue with a credit card processor, but no other subscribers are affected, it is likely due to one of the following, or a combination of the following errors:
              • Incorrect billing address
              • Non-supported credit card brand
              • Bank Fraud Detection is blocking the transaction
              • The card is not activated yet (new card)
              • The card balance is exceeded.
              • The card is expired

If none of the mentioned solutions resolve your issue, please reach out to our support team.
